A Drama by William Inge

The play takes place on Labor Day weekend in the joint backyands of two middle-aged widows. One house belongs to Flo Owens and her two awakening daughters, Madge and Millie and a boarder who is a spinster school teacher. The other belongs to Helen Potts, who lives with her elderly and invalid mother. Helen Potts has acquired the services of a man named Hal, a drifter, a braggard, and someone who is constantly down on his luck. Flo is wary of the temptations Hal poses for her daughters.
