Presenter: U of L National Pan-Hellenic Council Pricing: $15.00 in advance, $20.00 day of show Program Information: Stepping is performance art that combines dance with music and show. It is a precision choreographed performance, similar to tap, in which intricate sounds, beats and rhythms are executed by the steppers with drill team precision. Groups could add to that a chant about the African American community or history but more likely about the fraternity or sorority. It is a hybrid call and response similar to the one many steppers were exposed to while growing up in the church. It has been recognized by the art world and now is hailed as an important performance art form. Stepping comes from deep within the hearts of those who participate and is not just seen as another art form.
