Two migrant ranch hands in 1930s depression era California – George and his child-like companion, Lennie – have a simple dream: to have a home and land of their own. But the journey is never easy.

Based on the novella by John Steinbeck, our rousing production of this classic story reunites bass Rod Nelman and tenor Michael Hendrick, making his Kentucky Opera debut. The two partnered for Washington National Opera’s production in 2002.

OF MICE & MEN is a Kentucky Opera première.
