Arts Education Showcases: For 25 years, educators, parents,
librarians, and others have discovered quality pre-screened arts education
programs in all art forms by attending one of several Arts Education showcases
presented across the state. Beginning in April 2008, in partnership with
KET and the
Center for Rural Development,
The Kentucky Center will broadcast Showcase performances statewide on KET's
teacher channel,
KET-ED, as
well as offer a searchable online
Showcase Directory.
Are you an artist interested in applying to be included in the 2009 Arts
Education Showcase program? If you are an artist interested in applying
to be included in the 2009 Arts Education Showcase program, please contact Jeff

or (502) 562-0703. Application forms will be posted on this website in
September 2008 and are due October 30. Interviews for creative
writers and visual artists will take place on Wednesday, December 3.
Auditions for performing artists will take place on Thursday, December 4.
Interviews and auditions will be held at The Kentucky Center for the Performing
Arts in Louisville.
Governor's School for the Arts: Bring two hundred of Kentucky’s most promising and accomplished young artists together for three intensive weeks of interaction, training and artistic exploration, and you have a formula for magic. High school students from every corner of the Commonwealth assemble each summer for this exciting program.
Professional Development:
The Kentucky Center provides teachers with hands-on training in drama, dance,
visual arts, and music through two professional development programs: Arts
Academies and the Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education.
Information and applications for both of these programs for the summer of 2008

ArtsReach: Since 1991, The Kentucky Center's ArtsReach program has collaborated with community centers throughout Metro Louisville to provide quality arts programs and professional development with a strong emphasis on hands-on art experiences. Through an innovative, multi-dimensional and consistent approach of empowerment, education, grassroots networking and connection to the cultural heritage of Louisville's communities, the arts are no longer an afterthought in the development of healthy, self-assured, dynamic youth, families and adults with disabilities. ArtsReach works with community non-profits including libraries, parks, church-based non-profits, boys & girls clubs and neighborhood community centers.
ArtsReach Kentucky: With the Kentucky Arts Council's support, ArtsReach has expanded to provide services to arts organizations and community centers in Hopkinsville, Ashland, Mt. Sterling and Paducah. ArtsReach Kentucky participants receive art workshops for their centers, grant opportunities and professional development through an annual seminar, special resources and networking with other centers and art organizations throughout the state. Kentucky Center Express
The Kentucky Center Express program provides up to one-half of the transportation costs for Kentucky public schools to performances and educational programming at the Kentucky Center, annually serving over 13,000 students statewide.
